I hopped on CNN.com today when I arrived at work and saw a shirt that I think I may have to buy for my funny shirt collection. I am not happy at work but I find it hilarious for those that complain about their jobs constantly. United took a step in the right direction in reversing it’s previous policy regarding last minute travel and award booking fees. In an email today, Graham Atkinson who now oversees UA Mileage Plus notes UA as: “We are the first airline to remove the close-in award processing fee to provide even more value for continued loyalty. This is one of the steps we are taking this year to make Mileage Plus the most rewarding loyalty program for our members.” My 1K status will be ending the end of this year with my Plat Status on DL, I have 6 SWU to burn on Mama before years end. I had not noticed the close in booking fee with UA with status, but now can imagine the impact it would have on last minute get aways. Last minute travelers to places is good for hotels, I am all for it! DL waives the fee for Gold and above in it’s membership program. Families who travel debating where to go and on which carrier, the high cost of checked bags alone can discourage air travel, even with the fares at record lows. While trying to burn 250k miles on UA in the next 12 months, this will make the pain of losing status not as bad. I still need to plan my trip around the world…. (noted, on list) Congratulations United for making the change. This has been circulating on Facebook throughout the day. I liked it for a few reasons. Completely different then the norm, shows a great amount of vitality in the group, and life is too short. “Final thought of the night… Surround yourself with people that you want in your life. Dont take for granted what they have, give them more than you can ever offer and your true friends will be by your side!” I departed LA Fatness yesterday, and the very cool reception guy, Carlos mentioned to me that it was his last day on mornings. Last night I crashed at 10:30pm, and awoke this morning at 4:45, 10 minutes before my alarm. I quickly hopped up and out, arriving to the gym at 5:10. Only to find REALLY good parking, right up front! Looking around, I count 25 people standing outside the gym, awaiting it to open. Literally, lights are on, but no one is home. A personal trainer arrives, calls someone and mentions that it will not open now until 7, instead of 5. Big Deal? Not huge, I did pack for it, had my change of clothes and was ready to go into work directly after. Not going today has made my day seem so dishoveled, and out of sync. Hopefully tomorrow, which was my planned sleep in day, will be better, when I go back. Slightly saddened to have to give up a planned sleep in day, ahhhhhh. Tis is life! Should I mention anything to them? Should I just say, “eh, it is what it is”? Let me know your thoughts! In an attempt to book a ticket today, the UA site appears to have the ability to search on the left, but when you click search, it empties it out, and back to scratch. Notice the middle ad area empty, and the login to MileagePlus on the left missing. I tried google chrome and internet explorer. I have to wonder in an organization that charges per voice call, how much efficiency do they lose with these screw ups. In the age where online presence is a high distribution factor for any company attempting to be lucrative in the travel sector, this would seem to have a high cost. Uniteds Website has contactly been called .bomb by fellow travelers, and with this hiccup, while I had intent to book this morning exemplifies that. Calling it The Big Willie fine with Willis CEO – Chicago Real Estate Daily. “Hey look kids, its the BIG Willie”, seriously? This made us all chuckle at work today. It will be forever in my mind, the Sears Tower! Interesting QA section about the deal was in the article though. Get a sneak peek at the new name on Sears Tower – Chicago Real Estate Daily. I think the majority of people will always call it the Sears Tower… Has been and always will be a Chicago landmark. When in Chicago last week, watching the fireworks from a boat, the crew member mentioned “if any of you call it the Willis Tower, we will throw you over”. I agree… While on a site that Scott E sent me a week or two ago, I found a funny picture that I decided I have to share! The site is devoted to people with iPhones. Some comments from people on the site – I am still laughing! Congrats to Alaska, Continental and Delta (Uncle D) for their ranking in top 3 spots. My apologies to US and UA for the lowest ranked. Coincides with another article out that highlights the cabin crew friendliness on DL is above the majority of its competitors. I see that everytime I fly them. Congrats Uncle D! |
